Herbal Abortion: A Woman's DIY Guide. $2
A5 zine. 52 pages.
"Abortion is not a modern invention. For millennia women have used a variety of plants to prevent or terminate pregnancy. As technologoical culture puts the power over our lives in the hands of a small number of hi-tech experts, women have stopped learning how to control their own fertility... Herbal Abortion is not a pamphlet of new and radical ideas, it is simply the perpetuation of age-old knowledge that has been systematically suppressed by those - from medieval witch-burners and clergy to modern day doctors and politicians - who would usurp the power of a woman's control over her own body.
Just because herbal abortion uses herbs does not mean it will be gentle or easy. There are certainly risks with any medical treatment. Natural does not equal safe. Having read this [pamphlet], a woman may well choose not to use a herbal method of abortion. But whatever she chooses, she will be making a more informed choice from a wider range of options, and she will better understand the workings of her own fertility."
The Keeper. $50
Reusable Menstrual Cup.
The Keeper is a natural gum rubber cup - made by womyn, for womyn - that is worn internally, holding (instead of absorbing) your monthly menstrual flow. It's an environmentally-friendly and womyn-friendly alternative to nasty 'feminine hygiene' products such as tampons - the natural gum rubber (completely free of animal byproducts) is infinately kinder to your body than chemically treated bleached cotton (unlike tampons, The Keeper has not been linked to Toxic Shock Syndrome), and there's nothing to throw away month after month but your blood! For (much) more information, see the official Keeper website.
(NOTE: The Keeper comes in two sizes - size A, for womyn who have given vaginal childbirth (remember "A" for "After" vaginal childbirth), and size B, for womyn who have not given vaginal childbirth (this includes womyn who have given birth by caesarian section). Please be sure to specify which size you need when ordering.)
The RAG: Issue #1, Autumn 2006. $6
A4 zine. 40 pages.
This is the first issue of RAG - a magazine created and self-published by a collective of "revolutionary, anarcha-feminist" wimmin from Dublin, Ireland that tackles issues of sexism in the workplace, unschooling and sexual violence in our communities, as well as provides practical information such as anti-cramp tea recipes, the downlow on cystitis and places to swim around dublin! There is also an interview with the lovely Becs from the Brighton Feminist Health Collective! It's beautifully set out with lots of original artwork. A very special first issue!
Check out their website to read some of the articles from this issue, and find out more about the RAG collective.
