READING LIBRARY
This is a selection of writings that we feel are important in some way or another. Some of them we've learned something from or simply enjoyed reading, some of them have inspired huge discussions or deep thought amongst us, and some of them have changed our lives forever. Many of these writings appear in books or zines that we carry - you can find the source at the bottom of each piece.
It should go without saying that we don't for a second want to be encouraging people to be spending hour after torturous hour sitting in front of computer screens; that every last word collected here would be infinitely more enjoyable read from real pages, felt and turned with your real fingers, with the real wind rustling in your real hair... but at the same time we want to collect these texts here as statements of intent, as springboards to thought, discussion and action, and because otherwise you might never get to read them.
You'll notice that, as with our links page, we've divided things into Australian and International sections. The reason for this is that we want to make sure the Australian stuff doesn't get lost amidst the better-known (and, for the time being, more numerous) international stuff (which, let's be honest, is almost all North/Euro American). This way international visitors know where to look for the stuff they probably won't find on other anarchist websites, and Australia-based visitors know where to look for the stuff that more directly relates to their local struggles and communities (or that was at least written by someone more directly related to their local struggles and communities).
Please feel free to write to us if you're inspired (or offended) by any of the texts - we love to talk about this stuff! Even better, share the texts with people who haven't already read them, and see what they think. Let us know, too, if you have any suggestions for more pieces to be included here - we'd particularly like to expand the Australian section.
