Ah, the Situationists. What to say about the Situationists? Often inspiring, sometimes infuriating, occasionally impenetrable, and always somewhat arrogant, they were at least true to their critique of boredom - "Boredom is always counter-revolutionary"... of course, more often than not, everything and everyone but them was supposedly "counter-revolutionary", but I think the critique of boredom was more than just them being jerks (as they often were). Same goes for their critiques of work, pacifism, religion, education, modern life as we know it... you get the picture. The brains behind the brawn of the May 68 near-revolution, they kicked some serious capitalist ass in their time, and they're worth reading now because, despite the problems, they wrote some of the most incisive, poetic, original and still-relevant revolutionary critique of all time.
